Has anyone read the Divergent trilogy? I love the three books. I'm still bummed that Triss dies at the last book. If that erik guy wasn't there, that wouldn't have happened.

My vi teacher recommended me to read it. Ever since, I read all three.

Yes, I've read these. The first book was great, and I was excited about the series. In my opinion, it lost steam as it went along. The second book was all right, but definitely inferior to the first, and the third one was just lousy. Again, that's just my opinion, but to me it was a bummer that a series which started so well ended so badly.

Yeah, I hated the third one. Triss gets killed by this... shit of a guy.

The ending made me mad. I want to find whoever is responsible for that and punch them

I devoured the first two last summer when I didn't have much to do besides read. I loved them (though they are definitely junk food, as far as literature goes), but the third one really disappointed me. I got the impression that Veronica was grasping at straws, trying to get you to experience that" everything you know is wrong/trust no one/question everything" feeling but going about it very clumsily. I watched the first movie and was a bit disappointed. The acting felt wooden to me.

I watched the first movie (with Meglet, actually), and it wasn't bad but it didn't wow me. Haven't read the books because I'm not sure how much they'd grab. If they get worse as they goo, though, that's not usually a good sign.

As an aside, Marilyn, you might want to be just a touch more careful. Someone could very easily stumble on your post and get a huuuuge spoiler. I'm not too fussed, and I'm not trying to scold, but there are people other than myself who might not want to have a particularly big part of the book spoiled for them.

I read the trilogy with my wife and enjoyed it for the most part - especially the first one.) I liked the overall idea, though thought the "chosen one" being essentially an everyday well-rounded human being was a bit underwelming. It was an interesting destopian society, though I found it a lot less believable than something like the Hunger Games. I DID however appreciate the lack of a love triangle and rediculously over-played love interest. Not that I mind romantic elements in my reading - but most of the time I'm just screaming "communicate you fools!" in my head, the way you do in a normal relationship.
